Organisation
When I invited the girls to do their photo-shoots, I had the makeup all ready and waiting for them, I also advised them on outfits and messed with their hair to make it look lazier- a grunge-styled hairdo.
The camera, I had to borrow from school. I tested my own to see if it worked and it was fine, so I took it to the field behind my house to shoot my first ever photo-shoot. It took two photos then died, and when I got home, I realised we had no cable to connect the camera to the computer in order to retrieve the photos. I had to go to school and take the memory card out of the camera to insert into the computer. Decided to just borrow one that works after that experience. I "booked" my models a few days in advance to their photo-shoot and for Katie's, the bass guitar is mine.

Codes, Conventions and Semiotics
Codes and conventions are used in the media to allow people to relate to what they're seeing/reading/hearing. They are basically what relates the film/song/magazine article to its genre and are a widely accepted way of presenting examples of media. I used codes and conventions in my photo-shoots which I think relate to grunge music and would give people an idea of grunge. For example, my photos of Katie (Belle Hayward) are dark and show her to be holding a guitar- clearly relating to music. I think the darkness of both the backgrounds and her outfit insinuate a darker genre of music. I think codes and conventions are important, to allow people to know straight away, the genre of the magazine/film/song.
Semiotics are like codes, and link an example of media to a genre, but I believe they are more subliminal. For example, if you're watching a film and you see a couple kissing, you know it's a romance film.

Inspirations from DPS research.
I have decided, following the research I carried out on magazine double-page-spreads, that my image should be the main focus of the two pages, to assert both the dominance and importance of the model to the magazine. The title should be bold and stand out against the background, which in itself, should be relatively blank. The writing should be as small as possible, to ensure as much can be fit onto the two pages, but also big enough to actually read. The model should be dressed according to the colour scheme of black, white and red.
